Chernarus, 2024
World Situation
Chernarus, officially the Republic of Chernarus, is a country located in the Green Sea region, neighboured by Russia to the North (separated by the Black Mountains) and Takistan to the West. After breaking off from the communist bloc and forming its own republic, Chernarus was welcomed and recognized as a power in 1991. In the following years both sides of the Cold War (the US and Russia) took interest in this country and started funding and developing various projects.
In late 2014, due to causes yet unreleased, a viral outbreak happened in the North-Eastern region of the country. Reports of people losing their minds, attacking eachother and various bandits and rebels making their moves drowned the radio waves. The local military there was quickly overrun by the chaos, but with the joint help of global powers the situation was contained just as fast as it happened. Walls were built up, checkpoints were set up and almost every military in the world got involved in the blockade. The spread of this outbreak was stopped, and no-one was getting in our out of the region, including the survivors left behind along with the mutant threat. Due to the risk of global contamination, no rescue attempts were made besides the initial evacuation.
You are part of the CDF Paratroopers regiment stationed at Klen Hill FOB when the outbreak happens. Unfortunately , you fail to get to the extraction zone and are left behind. After having to evacuate from your FOB, you manage to find a new home at Green Hill mountain.
21st of November 2014, FOB Green Hill, Quarantine Zone
Situation two week safter the outbreak
One week ago (14th) you managed to relocate from FOB Klen to another base on Green Hill, then garrisoned by some bandit forces. You've spent one week fortifying the base, gathering items and just generally focusing on your short term survival. As agreed, you decided to focus on two things: Acquiring better vehicles and stockpiling enough weaponry to form an arsenal, and both of these actions succeeded (RNG roll >10). As such, you now have MRAPs and arsenals.
During this week of downtime, besides focusing on surviving day to day, attempts to contact the outside world, using the long range radio array in the middle of the base, were made, however they were unsuccesful. After some troubleshooting, you manage to determine that the radio array is meant to draw its electricity from the local power grid, which went down 2 days after the outbreak. There should be a backup mobile generator, however it was damaged during your reckless assault of the base, and your current generator is not powerful enough. You will need to find a replacement. Contact with the outside world is imperative in order to be rescued or at least get help until a rescue attempt can be made, and as such getting the radio back up is your new main priority. A plan is put in motion.
(ZEUS NOTE - ANY CHOICES YOU MAKE WILL AFFECT THE NEXT MISSION AND THE ENDING YOU GET)
Mission briefing
As previously stated, in order to contact the outside world you need to get the radio array working again, which means getting your hands on a new mobile generator. So that is now your main objective. Thankfully, the INTEL you pulled off last week revealed some possible locations that would require a large ammount of power to function, and as such should have some sort of back-up generator. There are 3 facilities - an Amusement Park(Alpha) in Black Forest, the Novy Lug Correctional Facility(Bravo) and the Pobeda Dam(Charlie). You will need to check those 3 places and hope you find a generator. Last mission you managed to recruit 11 people, and as such we were able to send a small recon force to each objective to get an ideea of what you're walking into. Objective Alpha seems to be garrisoned by the same rebels that engaged you a week ago (expect defenses and outside patrols) and Novy Lug is overrun with infected, and part of it seems to have burnt down. Objective Charlie is unknown as it was out of range to check. Caution when moving as Altar Hill seems to be a Smasher Den( or Toto's extended family, as you call them). We've managed to establish short-range radio contact with a Chernarussian police force that set up camp north of Berezino, so if possible stop by, they should be friendly. As always, keep your eyes out for supplies.
You are currently at Green Hill FOB. It is now 1720 hours, night conditions, clear sky, NVGs available. You have access to 4 salvaged MRAPs and a modified HEMTT transport. These are the only ''better armored'' vehicles we could find in the quarantine zone and repair for now, so take good care of them. You will be out in the field for some time, so make sure to pack supplies in the vehicles. No supports are available, not even resupply, you are on your own and will need to fend for yourselves.
Threat report
Zeus Clarification - you are fighting both zombies and humans
Same as a week ago, you are looking at essentially 3 sides as far as we can tell, the zombies, the bandits or rebels, whatever you choose to call them, and survivors. The zombies, from experience, are abundant around towns, villages and larger facilities. They are drawn by sound and sight, can run and their infection spreads through bites(duh) or corruption(the red spider-skulls that replace your nervous system by force). Beware of Toto. The bandits are a conventional force, they will just engage you on sight as you are too big of a target to rob. Expect dirty tactics, basic equipment and nothing more than light armored vehicles. Survivors should be neutral entities just minding their own. Being the army, they may look up to you for protection. Command recommends vigilance while out in the field, it is unsure what exactly you will come across. RoE is left up to you.
Mission Objectives
- Main Objective - Find a working generator
In order to power the radio array and contact the outside world you will need to get your hands on a mobile generator. Check objectives Alpha->Charlie(check mission briefing for more details) and try not to damage the generator too much. - Secondary Objective - Find supplies
To survive you need food, water, ammo, medical and so on - supplies. It's been two weeks since the outbreak so most places will be picked clean (this is my way of saying don't be a loot freak as you won't find stuff hidden in random shacks, look in obvious places). Trade, kill, steal, loot, it's up to you how you get the supplies. - Secondary Objective - Police Camp
We've managed to establish radio comms with a local Chernarussian police squadron that survived the outbreak. They've set up a base north of Berezino. They could be valuable allies, so if you have the time, go and meet them. Try and at least establish a mutual defense pact. Bonus points if you convince them to merge with us.
