Rosche, Germany
Situation
Last night, at 0300,for reasons yet unknown, Russian VDV units landed in the Rosche region and carried out attacks on strategic locations, including our military base at the airport. Unfortunately, the attack hit us hard and we lost a lot of equipment and men, but after an hour of fighting we managed to rout the VDV attackers. Currently, we are in the blind as our comms tower was taken out and other forms of communication seem to be jammed. This means that we do not know the global situation and, to be blunt, what exactly is happening. Regardless, command does not intend to wait around and find out, and as such your platoon is to mobilize effective immediately.
Mission Briefing
Command has put together a plan to hopefully shed some light on the situation and to improve our tactical standing. First order of business is to get comms with anyone from the outside, preferably Army Command. From what we suspect, the enemy is jamming our long-range radios, however we've managed to triangulate a rough position. Thankfully, our short range radios were spared. Moreover, Russian air vehicles keep flying overhead, meaning that our AA systems in the region are down.
The plan is for your platoon, made up of uninjured survivors from the night attack, to set off on a recon patrol, where you will find and destroy the radio jammer and bring our AA systems back online. If you are in the area, command requests that you also investigate the military base we had in Riestedt and find out its fate.
Everyone else will remain at base to defend it, meaning that you will be completely on your own. We will have no means to contact you beyond the close perimeter of the base (while the jammer is up), you won't be able to request resupply (meaning that you should pack as much ammo as possible) or fire support.
If you happen to make contact with any members of the German Army or the local police you are to gather as much information as possible from them, and then direct them to the airbase. We honestly don't know what you will find beyond the wire, so keep your wits about and use common sense. As far as we are concerned, we are at war with Russia, and any Russian troops on our soil are hostile and should be fired upon on sight, unless directed otherwise.
Remember! You will have no contact with high command at base until the jammers are down, plan accordingly.
Objectives
- Destroy radio jammer
If we want to establish a link with any outside element, we need the jammer destroyed. Our specialists have managed to triangulate its position to somewhere between Oetzendort-Oetzen-Masendort-Jastorf, in the forest. Sweep the area, find the jammer base, launch an assault and destroy it. Expect the enemy to react strongly to this.
- Investigate Riestedt
We had a small training base near Riestedt, but we lost contact with them when the attack happened. Command wants you to swing by on your way to the jammers, if you can, and see what fate the base had. If still ours, try to make contact and exchange information. If the base was taken over by the VDV, you can either go around it or clear it, this is left for the PL to decide. Either way, figure out what happened to the base.
- Restore AA systems
A few days before the attack we had deployed our AA section to Testorf to conduct field training. Unfortunately, they were still there when the attack happened, and judging by the presence of Russian planes, we believe they were also attacked. Move out and restore our AA grid. Bear in mind that the jammer takes priority.
