29th of January, 2025, Republic of Chernarus
Situation
In mid-2023, tensions in the Republic of Chernarus, caused by corruption, abuse and the everlasting fight between Western and Eastern influence, grew until they reached a tipping point. Followed by a failed coup d'état led by an ultra-nationalist group supplied by Russia, the entire republic was plunged into a state of war. When the conflict started, the army loyal to the Western-aligned government (hence the loyalists) was caught unprepared by the ultra-nationalists but has since then gotten back on the offensive. Two years later, you find yourself on the loyalist side of the war, now essentially a proxy war between the US and Russia, the West versus the East, fighting for the survival of the old government, with Western allegiance and backing.
However, since the turn of the new year, gained ground went from being measured in kilometres to bare meters, and the situation on the front has essentially become a stalemate. Chernarussian Defence Forces command (CDF, your side) has recognised the need to break this status quo and force the ultra-nationalists on the back leg. Your unit, the elite CDF Airborne Raiders, has been selected to participate in this plan.
Mission Briefing
Recently found intel has given the CDF a huge opportunity. According to our findings, the enemy is running low on supplies on the frontline and, thanks to our air supremacy, has had to resort to inserting supplies via the railway or the highway. However, contrary to our analysts' belief, everything is initially delivered at a central supply hub deep behind enemy lines and then distributed by trucks. High Command intends to destroy it and cripple the enemy. However, such an ambition may be too much for ordinary frontline troops. Henceforth, the Airborne Raiders were selected for this task.
At 1130 hours, under the cover of darkness, you will board one of our C-17 Globemasters and execute a HALO drop deep behind enemy lines, on LZ Zibylna. To make your job easier, Pathfinders will be inserted 3 hours in advance to mark the landing zone and do some preliminary recon. Your objective in the region is to conduct sabotage and eliminate any enemy means of logistics. Satelite images provided by our Western allies suggest a railyard, vehicle depot, along with multiple ammo and fuel dumps scattered across the region.Intel suggests HVTs worthy of elimination will be present. On top of this, HQ needs you to mine the highway (more details in Mission Obj.). It is advised to equip silencers and try to maintain stealth as long as possible. You are deep behind enemy lines, there are no supports available, excluding ammunition drops. RoE is left up to command; however, do try to minimise collateral damage(especially with the AC-130). You will need to secure your own vehicles for transportation.
To aid with your mission, an AC-130 will be attached to your Platoon to provide fire support (HQ recommends against using it to destroy any caches/dumps; we need clean confirmed demolitions; same goes for the HVTs)
Regarding exfiltration, you are too deep behind enemy lines to send any helicopters or other means after you, and hiking will not be an option. High Command has decided to employ the help of a local smuggling ring. You MUST reach the extraction point before the end of the operation. Make sure to take this into consideration.
Threat Report
You will face the ultra-nationalist reservist units, mainly garrison troops or logistic squads. Intel expects most of these units to be inexperienced and poorly armed. The enemy has mainly soviet equipment and no official camouflage, body armor is rarely seen this far behind lines due to its scarcity. Expect armored threats, and there is a possibility of air elements given the nearby airbase. This is far behind enemy lines, so we do not expect any strong AA defences. Do not spend too long in one place. You are alone and can easily be outmanned, although not outclassed. The enemy has no night vision means, so IR lasers and strobes can be used with little risk. While the enemy is not concentrated in one zone, they are spread out across the region, expect patrols.
Mission objectives
- Destroy the Railyard near Ruha
The ultra-nationalists are bringing in supplies via the railways. The only identified drop-off point is near Ruha. You are to eliminate any garrison forces and destroy any equipment and locomotives there. Prioritise the latter. If possible, put the railway itself out of commission (blow up the locomotives to block the way, destroy vehicles and leave them on the tracks, etc.). HQ suspects there might be supplies stored in the town of Ruha itself. Obviously, make sure to bring enough explosives (or find them among the enemy supplies). There are some Pathfinders nearby already scouting the objective. Link up with them if you need extra information. - Eliminate the Logistics officers (Central Supply Hub)
Intel indicates that to the North-East of your LZ there is a militarised stadium acting as an HQ(marked on your maps as the Central Supply Hub). If our information is correct, this is where everything logistics related is coordinated from. If you can eliminate the officers there, the enemy's plans will be disrupted for good. - Mine the Main Supply Route
Marked on your maps, this highway serves as the main start point for any routes taken by trucks moving supplies to the frontlines. Choose a stretch of the road and plant mines. If you run into any convoys, do your best to destroy them. - Destroy the Fuel and Ammo dumps (Optional)
Optional objectives and not needed for mission success, recon indicates these are small compounds with skeleton-crews defending them. You know what to do.
