Situation
Contract 201394/2_Terminal_Prowess sees ION PMC deploy in the Philippine Sea. Four days ago, an independent research outpost in the Pulau Archipelago came under attack from the local cartel forces. HUMINT believes this was due to an ever-expanding rift in the relationship between our client and the local forces. Regardless, the laboratory was sacked, the research seized and the staff were captured.
ION Forces arrived on the 16th of September and set up shop on a small island to the SE of Pulau Gurun. Since then, 24 hours pased and our client hasn't made any progress in negotiations with the cartel, and as such we've been given the green light. The mission: the retrieval of the scientists and their project.
Security Assignment Contract
IoN Incorporated, hereafter referred to as the COMPANY, and the CONTRACTOR, Astra LLC, agree to enter into a formal arrangement commencing on the SEVENTEENTH (17) Day of the NINTH (9) Month, Year 2027, hereafter referred to as the OPERATION.
The CONTRACTOR requires the COMPANY to deploy into the strategic Area of Responsibility in Pulau, hereafter referred to as the AOR, to execute the terms of the OPERATION, as follows. The COMPANY agrees to infiltrate the AOR in order to locate and extract the Astra research personnel, hereafter referred to as PACKAGE ONE, and the prototype device, hereafter referred to as PACKAGE TWO. The OPERATION requires the client to extract both PACKAGE ONE and PACKAGE TWO intact, and failure to do so voids the CONTRACT.
The CONTRACTOR authorizes the legitimate USE OF DEADLY FORCE ON SIGHT within the remit of the OPERATION. The CONTRACTOR requires operational secrecy at all costs. The COMPANY agrees to the full liability of any and all deviations from the RoE within the OPERATION AOR notwithstanding the CLIENT or COMPANY contractual addenda. Payment will be delivered by the CONTRACTOR after the successful completion of the OPERATION by the COMPANY.
Mission Briefing
Given our client's initial diplomatic approach, the cartel has had time to prepare defenses and hide their tracks, meaning that our INTEL is limited. Pulau is big, and we do not have the time to comb through on foot, hence command has decided to launch swift and precise airborne raids , with your full element, on known locations of interest.
The first part of our contract will mainly oversee the gathering of information on the location of the scientists and their project. The most obvious places to start are the laboratory, Carlo Perez's( the leader of the cartel) house and the cartel's main base, on Pulau Gurun. You are to raid those locations, starting with the lab, and bring any INTEL you find back to base so we can analyze it. Once we've pinpointed the locations of the staff and the project, you will move in and retrieve them.
For transportation you will utilize next-generation helicopters, x2 MI-290 Taru and x1 Mi-48 Kajman for both CAS and Transport. Resupply (you can also RTB to resupply), as well as reinsertion will be handled by the air crew. Any found INTEL will require transportation back to base, same goes for the PACKAGES (1&2).
Our client has requested that we keep any information about the project secret, meaning that you will need to keep your eyes peeled and prevent any non-ION personnel from discovering too much and releasing any information to the public. As far as the world is concerned, we are just retrieving basic lab equipment and rescuing hostages.
Threat report
Initial recon has determined that the ''cartel'' we are fighting resembles a motorized unit, spread across the islands of Pulau Gurun and Pulau Monyet, where they protect their plantations and any other POIs. HUMINT shows that the cartel has direct control over the islands, meaning roads, towns and so on. It seems that the enemy operates in cells, independent from eachother but under the direct leadership of one Carlo Perez who calls the shots. The cartel uses basic military equipment, including body armor and helmets. In terms of armour we expect nothing more powerful than M113s and humvees. The cartel has an airforce, however it's composed of smuggling planes, same goes for their navy.
Mission Objectives
- Recover PACKAGE ONE and TWO
This means the staff on the science team and the project itself. We haven't been given much to go on regarding the project, other than the fact that we will recognize it when we see it. However, you firstly need to gather enough information on the whereabouts.
- Investigate the research station
Located on Pulau Monyet, inside of an abandoned military base, the research lab owned by Astra conducted experiments until 4 days ago, when it was occupied by the cartel. Your task is to clear the lab and sweep it for any useful information. Avoid damaging the place.
- Raid Carlo Perez's home
The leader of the cartel, Carlo is bound to have some information at his home. Due to paranoia, his house is located in the middle of a jungle, in northern Pulau Gurun. If the leader himself is there, command wants him captured for interrogation. Look for phones, laptops, documents, anything that could contain information, and bring them back to base.
- Raid the cartel's main base
The cartel's biggest base is the airfield in central Pulau Gurun. Leaders from different cells come and go through this place daily. This means there's a big potential for INTEL, but the risk is also high given the tight security. Command intends to hit this place only if we don't find enough at the other two locations.
