Background
In this Cold-War-Gone-Hot scenario few small but relatively successful Warsaw Pact offensives managed to take NATO off guard which led to a considerable loss of territory. With the front somewhat stable and the US forces streaming into Europe NATO has been preparing to begin an offensive to retake lost territory.
Briefing
NATO has approved Valkyrie Horizon – an operation to swiftly retake vital locations that would later host offensives into the rest of Germany. As 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division you will be paradropped behind enemy lines in southern Germany. The region of Lybor is currently garrisoned by low-grade Soviet troops but we are also aware of elite VDV units in the area recovering after the initial start of the conflict. Before you get to arrive to the region the combined NATO air power will infiltrate enemy lines, destroy currently known radar/AA installations and engage Warsaw Pact’s air force along the entire front line. Your first objective will be to secure Hill 735 and confirm the destruction of the local radar installation, afterward you are to secure the local airfield and garrison HQ. You are then to secure 4 bridges in the region and hold until the arrival NATO ground units, at least one bridge must remain intact.
Objectives
Your objectives have been divided into 2 Phases.
Phase 1
- Proceed to Hill 735 and eliminate any remaining Radar/AA/SPAA installations.
- Destroy any enemy equipment still operational that you may find on the local airfield
- Capture enemy garrison HQ, if possible, find intel on any local Artillery/AA positions
Phase 2
- Secure and hold still-intact bridges in the region of Lybor
- (Optional) Destroy enemy Artillery/AA positions
- Await the arrival of the NATO forces
